The addressable infrastructure chain
Potential work includes jetty civil structures, landside access, passenger or cargo interfaces, utilities, safety arrangements and supporting construction services, subject to the approved site designs. Engineering and equipment businesses should identify a defined work category and the purchaser responsible for it. A programme spanning several waterways need not be procured through one construction mandate.
Each site has a different commercial case
The usefulness of a jetty depends on its intended users, access, operating arrangements and connection to local activity. The site-level assessment should connect demand and service needs with the required asset and maintenance obligations. A standard structure does not remove the need for site-specific engineering, land and operational decisions.
Value follows the approved physical scope
The capital-development file should record the number and location of sites, structures, supporting works and the value assigned to each approved package. Keep study costs separate. The procurement of reports is a milestone demonstrating preparation; it should not be displayed as the size of the infrastructure investment that contractors and investors are considering.
Prepare the client’s route to implementation
Map the responsible IWAI office, future implementing and purchasing entities, specialist partners and approvals dependencies. Suppliers can prepare reference and delivery evidence while the project develops. Bid expenditure and guarantee commitments should follow actual works conditions, with attention to dispersed mobilisation, acceptance requirements and working-capital exposure.
