Eligible trial use
Eligible Indian e-passport holders on selected Air India and IndiGo international flights can use enabled terminal-entry, Security Hold Area and boarding touchpoints during November–December 2026.
Ministry of Civil Aviation / PIB ↗Travel controls remain
The facility complements existing processes; passengers still carry travel documents and complete airline and immigration checks. Trial feedback is intended to inform a wider rollout planned for 2027.

Commercial and operating implications.
TLGS perspective — map the passenger journey
The key interface is the complete journey rather than a single identity device. Airport, airline and technology teams need a shared view of which touchpoint is enabled, what establishes eligibility and how exceptions are handled. A trial can reveal operational and integration requirements, but it should not be presented as universal availability.
Define a governed technology proposition
Candidate workstreams include touchpoint integration, access-system interoperability, identity-security review, accessibility and service-continuity procedures. A supplier should specify data responsibilities, support arrangements, audit evidence and fallback handling. These are analytical areas for business development; the trial announcement does not advertise their purchase.
Separate scaling from procurement
A 2027 rollout intention is a planning signal. A commercial pipeline should distinguish programme direction from airport-specific approval, funding, purchasing entity and tender scope. That distinction helps specialist firms target an actual integration requirement instead of treating all participating airports as simultaneous new awards.
