TLGS assessment
Commercial and operating implications.
Separate data availability from structural conclusions
The owner needs reliable measurements, continuity, validation, qualified interpretation and a defined response process. Instrument outputs must be assessed by the responsible engineers against the bridge-specific requirements. A commercial monitoring contract should not imply that a sensor automatically establishes load capacity, authorises traffic or replaces inspection responsibilities.
Plan a maintained system and its records
Evaluate commissioning, calibration, connectivity, power, maintenance, record ownership and reporting obligations across the service period specified in the contract. Integration and engineering roles should be explicit. Bid preparation should establish the actual qualifications and scope for each bridge instead of treating identical closing dates as a single combined mandate.
From insight to action
Priorities for leadership.
Qualified engineering and technology partners
Define bridge-specific responsibilities and evidence of relevant capability.
Asset and contract teams
Connect monitoring acceptance, ongoing support and qualified response procedures.
Project and policy milestones
What changes the next decision.
Bridge-specific amendments, selection, commissioning and the agreed reporting and maintenance arrangements.
