Agriculture remains the backbone of India's economy, employing over 45% of the workforce and contributing approximately 18% to GDP; it is governed primarily by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, and Ministry of Rural Development.
