Value basis₹10,021 crore · five-project programme
GeographyTamil Nadu / Andhra Pradesh / Karnataka / Telangana

Source-supported facts

The Cabinet announcement of 9 September 2026 approves five multitracking projects totalling ₹10,021 crore and about 540 kilometres in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.

The named corridors include Arakkonam–Renigunta, Whitefield–Bangarapet, Hosur–Omalur, Salem–Karur–Dindigul, and Ghatkesar–Kazipet.

TLGS assessment

The commercial next step is a package map: civil works, bridges, track, electrification, signalling and project-management interfaces. Procurement must be verified separately; the announcement is not five open construction tenders.

Practical next steps

  • Identify the responsible railway zones and each corridor’s tender/award register.
  • Separate project sanction, DPR/design, works packaging and actual bid invitations.

Status & scope

₹10,021 crore is the combined programme cost. No individual package value or blanket unawarded status is asserted.
